The ride home

I’ve come down with a bug so I’ll keep this short and sweet. This is my drive home. It’s typical NE Montana. A bit rolly, big sky, and lots of traffic deer to dodge.

Looks like I’ll be seeing this view quite a bit in the coming months. Football starts Saturday and it will be go, go, go.

Just the way I like it!

Snickerdoodles and patience

Grandma’s. They’re the best. They do things with their grandkids that moms are just too tired or not patient enough to do. Okay, MY mom does things with MY kids that I CLEARLY am not patient enough for.

Like baking cookies.September_0661She got them all going on it. The oldest stirred and balled the mix. Gramma rolled it.September_0662 The middle kid rolled it in sugar and handed it to the little one to place on the cookie sheet.

September_0672HEY!!! Place it on the cookie sheet, NOT in your mouth. Toddlers, you can never trust them.

September_0670 What a group of bakers. Good thing gramma’s are built for this sort of stuff.September_0663Look at that! There were even some that didn’t land in the Little Man’s mouth.

September_0674 And they were topped off with a candy corn because… because…. because gramma brought them and the boys insisted they go on top.

And me? Well I helped too!

I ate the cookies.

Burp.

Friday Photo Flashback ~ College Days

Friday Photo Flashback

I can't help but think back to college days lately. My best friend, my better half, you see that is where we met.

We both had ag majors and had a lot of classes together. Funny thing was that we didn't actually meet in an Ag class. We met in Sociology 101. We were taking a test and I didn't have a pencil. I looked over at this guy, this guy wearing slippers to class and cut jeans, I asked if I could borrow a pencil. Hmm, does this sound like elementary school? So from then on I sat next to him in Sociology. That is unless I skipped class, but he was a good student who took a TON of notes and he was so in love that he shared them all!

A month into sitting next to each other he asked if I would like to go on a double date to a wagon ride. So then he introduces me to his buddy we would be going with. He looks at me to introduce me and says "what is your name anyway?"

Bwaaaa hhaaaaa! Can you believe we never introduced ourselves. How silly!

Well, we went on that double date but actually went to Pizza Hut instead, I think. All four of us crammed in his truck. I was so nervous and giddy. That right there was the start of it all.

Oh, and I have plenty of stories to tell about that there truck!!

Forever In Blue Jeans

Here’s a fun little sequence of pictures. The boys like to rough house and wrestle quite a bit. And Lineman and I usually get in the mix too.

52 weeks 39-3

It was a ton of fun and it lasted awhile and I was able to pin them both….. this time. My oldest is getting so strong it just amazes me! It won’t be much longer and these days will be past. I’m sure they won’t want to wrestle with their mama when they get older. So until then…. we wrestle.

Four boys and a bike

September_0657

Lineman spent quite a bit of time working on his motorcycle this past weekend. You can bet he had a helper… or two… or three a lot of that time! Boys and their toys I tell you! If it has a motor, or wheels, or just makes a loud noise – boys seem to like it!

Heart breaker

Colt sick 8x10

This poor guy sure wasn’t feeling good a few days ago. It just breaks my heart to see him like this. He is usually going a mile a minute so when he slows down we know he is feeling off. The bug lasted a few days and he is nearly back to his old self. Good thing too, I don’t know how much of that face I can take.

Friday Photo Flashback ~ #1 Country Ranch Hand

Friday Photo Flashback

Old Photos_0100

The first years we were married Lineman worked for his uncle on his farm/ranch. I have the best memories of those years! Hauling hay was one of his regular jobs and he always loved it. Turns out this picture would be in a magazine a few months later. My mom submitted the picture along with a description of her son-in-law. We opened up Country Magazine a few months later and there he was! Along with the picture was written how he has an incredibly hard worker and he always "rode for the brand". Still true today! What a man I married!

A united team

As the days go by I can see more and more that these three boys are forming a united team. Sure they fight and argue, that’s all part of learning and growing. But when I see these boys interact it becomes clear just how much they love each other and my heart is happy. Brothers collage 72 Knowing they will have each other, whatever storms may come their way, I know they will conquer whatever they set their minds to. They will do it with the support of one another.

United.

Old pictures_0078

This picture looks like it was taken about '79 or '80. I don't know why I have a football in my hands but I thought it was pretty fitting after yesterday's post about my son signing up for football. I think I was more nervous about him playing tackle football than I am about him riding motorcycles. But, as a mother of three boys, I adapt and am no longer worried about it.

Instead, I need to know if I should paint his number on my face for game days.

52 Weeks 37

I have to say I really didn't think this day would come.... Football sign-ups. Tackle football. Sure baseball, soccer and maybe basketball. But for some reason football never even crossed my mind. Well, he is all signed up, measured and weighed. And let me tell you, he is seriously excited about this!

Air

We found a place where we can ride the bikes. But when I say we can ride bikes I really mean everyone else can ride and I’ll do the usual picture taking.

September_0115 We haven’t ridden as much as we normally do. It’s just been the craziest summer we’ve ever had. Now things are settling down we are getting back to the way it used to be. Ahhh, a sigh and a smile. I’ve waited a long time for things to feel back to normal.

September_0122 This is normal. Little Man sitting on my bike watching his brothers zoom past and catch… air.

September_0130 Air. Air is a good thing. Air makes a person feel free. Free from house cleaning, cooking, laundry and dishes. Free from homework, and making beds and cleaning up toys.

September_0135 September_0131 Air, yes it’s a good thing.

Juvenile Delinquents

Deer 1 A few nights ago I was just about to fall asleep. It was already very late and I had stayed up way to late as it was. So, just as I was about to arrive at dream land I heard a rustling out my bedroom window.

deer 2

The rustling continued and then more strange sounds… that strange, unique, yet familiar sound. Deer. Deer right out my bedroom window.

Playing.

The nerve! To be playing right there, running around, playing tag, making those strange noises. I got out of bed to watch these inconsiderate rascals. There wasn’t just one, there were about 5 of these little guys. Trouble always runs in groups I tell ya!deer 3

And if it’s bad now, just wait until all the crabapples fall to the ground. Then we are seriously in trouble. It’s like a drug to them! Deer drugs hanging in a tree right out my window. Does that make me an accessory to a crime?

deer 4

Charge me if you want. They can keep me up at night.

Even if they are a bunch of juvenile delinquents.

Friday Photo Flashback ~ Soccer

Friday Photo Flashback

Carin soccer 1

Here is something you probably know about me by now…. I love soccer.

I mean I really, really love it. I can't get enough of it. Seriously. It's that bad.

I started playing at age 5 and I would be playing today if there was a team for me! Soccer season just started here for the kids. My middle son will be playing but…*wiping tears*… my oldest son decided he didn’t want to play *bwaaa snort snort*. That’s okay..*snort*…I'll be okay. Really…. *blowing nose*…. I’ll just take it a day at a time and it will be fine. My middle son loves the game as much as I do so I’m thankful I’ll still get my soccer fix.

I think I’ll go juggle the ball now, thank you.

Okay, I er, um, er.... forgot to get a picture WITH one of the kids this week. But I had my oldest take a picture OF me... so that is going to have to work for this week.

It had been a while but we got the bikes out this week and had an absolute blast!

Why?

My middle son said to me as he heading out to the bus this morning, “Mom, I just don’t know why girls have to chase me”.

Colter August 1

He says he doesn’t like it.

I wonder if that opinion will change later on.

A reason for everything

You know that divider between  your two kitchen sinks?   Did you know that it is slightly lower than the outer edges of the sink?  Did you know there is a very good reason for that?  Did you know I started dish water then walked away to multi task?   Did you know I’m very thankful the water drained into the other side of the sink?

August_0406 August_0405

Did you know when you leave the water running like that it makes some AWESOME bubbles?
